The LP Gas Traders Cooperative Society Limited today announced a two-day nationwide sales shutdown for Thursday and Friday, protesting what it described as repeated harassment over LPG cylinder prices and supplies.
Association President Selim Khan announced the decision at a press conference at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Monday.
He said traders had repeatedly faced harassment over gas cylinder prices and supplies, prompting them to suspend sales at all gas shops nationwide for the two days.
Selim Khan warned that the traders would launch tougher protest programmes if their demands were not met.
The latest price hike in the domestic LPG market came on 4 October, when the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) raised the price of a 12kg cylinder by Tk252 to Tk1,837.
