 Prime Minister Praises Army During Visit to Barishal Camp

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman watches troop drills and talks with soldiers during a training camp in Barishal.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman says the public fully trusts the Bangladesh Army. Additionally, he called the forces a clear symbol of the nation’s freedom. He shared these views on July 13, 2026. Consequently, the Prime Minister visited the summer exercise of the army in Barishal to observe their readiness.

Around 11:30 am, the leader arrived at the Purba Rahmatpur area. This camp is located in Babuganj Upazila. During his visit, he praised the troops highly.

“The Army has repeatedly set shining examples of professionalism, courage and patriotism in dealing with national crises, ensuring the country’s security and maintaining law and order,” he said.

Furthermore, he noted that their good work has won the hearts of the people. As a result, their strict duty and sacrifice bring them great respect.

A Push for Better Gear

Next, the Prime Minister urged the army to keep growing. Specifically, he stated they must maintain their high standards.

“To preserve this trust and respect, professional training, the use of modern technology and the highest level of preparedness must be maintained,” he added.

Moreover, he promised state help for the troops. “The government will provide all necessary support to enhance the capability, modernisation and reputation of the Army.” Therefore, he hopes the armed forces will win more global praise soon.

Watching Army Drills

Later, Tarique Rahman walked through a thick forest. He went to watch the active drills. During this tour, he saw how the soldiers moved and prepared for combat. At the same time, army leaders explained their true plans.

In addition, the leader watched a new defense tool in action. This special system finds and stops enemy drones. Afterward, military chiefs told him how they use it in a real battle.

Sharing Old Memories

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister took time to talk with the soldiers. First, he walked into the woods to check on them. Then, he urged the personnel to work hard.

“I grew up in an Army family. That is why I feel very happy whenever I come among Army personnel. It reminds me of my childhood memories,” he said. Indeed, he seemed very glad to spend time with the troops.

 

A Simple Camp Meal

Finally, the premier sat on the ground. He rested right next to the troops. While there, he listened to their stories about camp life. Subsequently, he shared a special field meal with them.

Cooks made the food over a candle fire. They prepared it inside a tin can. For lunch, he ate plain rice, lentils, and mashed potatoes. Likewise, he enjoyed shrimp and egg curry.

Many top officials joined him for this event. For instance, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon was there. Similarly, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman attended the gathering.

Other leaders came to the camp as well. Notably, Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam was present. Also, Prime Minister’s Military Secretary Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq and senior army staff were there too.
