Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has urged the nation to unite for national growth. He believes the strong unity that ended the 2024 July Uprising must now help build the country. Consequently, by working together, he feels the nation can reach its full potential.

Promoting National Unity

The Prime Minister spoke to a large crowd in Barishal today. He officially started a tree planting event at the Trish Godown area. During his speech, he noted how people of all faiths and backgrounds joined forces to end the past regime. Furthermore, he stressed that citizens thrive when they work side by side for a common goal.

History shows that people from all paths fought for freedom during the Liberation War. In the same way, this spirit of unity helped topple the recent autocratic rule. He reminded the audience that this collective strength is a powerful tool for future progress. Every citizen plays a vital role in keeping this spirit alive today.

Commitment to the Environment

After his speech, the Prime Minister planted a coconut tree to start the new drive. A prayer service followed this act to bless the initiative.

All citizens must work to save the environment. However, the government and city offices cannot do this important work alone. Thus, he asked the public to keep their homes, offices, schools, and hospitals tidy. Maintaining a clean space helps improve the quality of life for everyone in the community.

Protecting Local Waterways

The Prime Minister also highlighted the value of the local Sagardi Canal. Since residents often toss plastic bottles and bags into the water, he asked them to use trash bins instead. To help, he requested that the city office use speakers to share these rules with all visitors. Keeping the water clean is a shared duty for everyone who lives near the canal.

Additionally, he spoke about local water pipes. Officials should avoid sending house waste directly into the canal. Doing this harms the environment and dirties the water supply. In the end, he warned that neglecting the environment will only cause people more pain in the future. Therefore, protecting these natural resources is a key part of building a better country.

Following the plantation programme, the Prime Minister moved to the Circuit House for lunch and prayers. He planned to finish his Barishal tour with a meeting at the Shilpakala Academy. During this session, he will exchange views with party leaders to discuss upcoming national development plans.
