Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely at many places over the country, with a low-pressure area likely to form over Bay of Bengal by September 19, according to the latest weather bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The BMD said light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions during the 24 hours beginning at 9:00 am today.

It added that day and night temperatures may fall slightly.

The BMD said a mild heat wave is currently sweeping over Dhaka, Faridpur, Rangpur, Jashore and Khulna districts, but it is expected to abate shortly.

During the last 24 hours until 6:00 am today, the highest rainfall of 65 millimetres was recorded at Rangamati.

Jashore recorded the highest maximum temperature of 36.4 degrees Celsius, while the lowest minimum temperature was 22.5 degrees Celsius at Srimangal.
