Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today urged the government officials to ensure that every penny allocated for development projects is spent properly in the interest of the country and the welfare of the people.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlmighty Allah has given us the opportunity to work for our country and its people. We should all make sincere efforts to fulfil our responsibilities to the best of our ability,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister was addressing a meeting to review the activities of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock and the progress of various development projects at the ministry\u2019s conference room at the Bangladesh Secretariat, said PM\u2019s Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu.<\/p>\n
At the meeting, officials briefed the Prime Minister on the ministry\u2019s ongoing activities, progress in implementing development projects, and future action plans and targets.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister said, \u201cYou have undertaken many projects and set many targets. The government will certainly allocate budgets to achieve those targets. But this is public money. I hope all of you will pay attention to ensuring that every penny of public money is spent properly in the national interest and for the welfare of the people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Calling on officials to view their public service roles as a valuable opportunity to work for the people, Tarique Rahman said, \u201cCompared with the country\u2019s overall population, those serving in government positions are privileged and should use this opportunity to work for the welfare of the people.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cLet us sincerely carry out whatever work we have the opportunity to do. We must all make that effort.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister said opportunities to serve in public positions did not last forever, and everyone should make the best use of their time in office to serve the country and its people.<\/p>\n
At the end of the meeting, he again urged officials to discharge their duties sincerely. \u201cLet us all try to make proper use of the time we have in our respective positions to work for the people and the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Tarique Rahman also encouraged officials to share their views more actively, saying their field-level experience and observations could play an important role in government decision-making.<\/p>\n
Expressing his intention to review the ministry\u2019s progress again in the future, he hoped officials would speak more openly at subsequent meetings and share their experiences, observations and opinions.<\/p>\n
Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammed Aminur Rashid, State Minister Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Secretary Md Delwar Hossain and senior ministry officials were present at the meeting.<\/p>\n
