State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir said on Saturday that there is no possibility of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visiting India before the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session.<\/p>\n
He said that the date for the Prime Minister\u2019s proposed visit to India has yet to be finalised. The discussions on the visit are still under way.<\/p>\n
Humaiun Kobir made the remarks while speaking to leaders of television journalists at a hotel in Sylhet in the morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe discussions on the prime minister\u2019s visit to India are ongoing. However, the date has not yet been finalised. There is no possibility of the prime minister visiting India before the UN General Assembly session,\u201d the state minister said.<\/p>\n
He said the Prime Minister would attend the UN General Assembly with a message about Bangladesh\u2019s progress towards a new future.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a possibility of a meeting between the Prime Minister and US President Donald Trump there,\u201d Humaiun Kobir said.<\/p>\n
The state minister also spoke about Bangladesh\u2019s decision to join the Mecca Pact, saying there was nothing unusual about the move.<\/p>\n
\u201cBangladesh\u2019s joining the Mecca Pact is not unusual. We will go wherever necessary based on the national interest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Regarding Bangladesh\u2019s plan to purchase Boeing aircraft from the United States, Humayun Kabir said the decision was driven by demand.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are buying Boeing aircraft from the United States because there is a demand. More may be purchased if necessary,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
